High Tea

Well this is something I have always loved but have become particularly passionate about over the last year.

Think pretty dresses, pearls, beautiful tea sets, yummy treats such as scones, cakes, sandwiches, delicious tea, and of course some champagne… This is the gorgeous occasion of High Tea!

There are lots of different ways to do high tea and you can put your own twist on it to make it personal and very ‘you’. After going out for an amazing high tea for mother’s day to Rochelle Adonis in Northbridge I decided I had to host my very own tea party…and so the planning began!

I had been wanting to get the perfect tea set for a while but hadn’t found one I loved. After a few months of keeping my eyes out I finally found ‘the’ set. A gorgeous Royal Albert pale blue tea pot with white polka dots and pink, dainty flowers all over it. I then decided to mix up the cup and saucer selection, rather than having all matching cups. I got 6 different styled cups and then mixed the saucers around. So pleased I decided to do this because it gave a really interesting and fun look without being too ‘matchy matchy’.

I simply LOVE the T2 stores so it was no trouble at all to go in there and buy a selection of teas to have for my special day. I chose, Sencha Vanilla which is a green tea with a hint of vanilla- amazing for all you green tea fans out there! I also got Strawberries and Cream (which is my fave) it is so light and refreshing and not too sweet (oh and it’s pink Β which is a bonus as that’s my favourite colour). And of course I went with a traditional English Breakfast which is best served with milk and perfect for those who like a more simple tea, you can never go wrong.

Ok so tea is sorted. Next comes one of the key parts of the day…the FOOD!! For my party I got my friends to all bring something along, that way you get to try lots of amazing things and it also makes it not so stressful on yourself. Otherwise you would be there for days cooking!

I made scones, with lots of whipped cream and some good quality french jam and also some sandwiches. I just went with two simple sandwich fillings. One was chicken with slithered almonds, mayonnaise and of course plenty of salt and pepper and the other filling was some good quality mustard, and ham. Of course being a proper tea party I cut the crusts off the sandwiches πŸ™‚

My friends all excelled and made some incredible goodies which included. Savoury pin wheels, strawberry macaroons and nutella macaroons, raspberry friands, and rose water cupcakes. Needless to say we had SO much food and well and truly indulged but it was INCREDIBLE!

And last but not least I made sure there was plenty of champagne on hand. Pink of course!

The day was beyond amazing and so special. It was a great opportunity for us to all catch up and in such a beautiful way. I’m so pleased I decided to have the high tea, as it’s something different to do with friends and gives everyone a chance to use their cooking skills. I am already thinking about when I can have another one as it was so enjoyable.

Ladies go on…start planning your very own high tea!

Have any of you ever had a high tea or been somewhere amazing for one? Where was it?

I would love to hear your experiences.

Stay Fabulous!

  3. COURTNEY!!! This is so amazing. SO amazing. You’re so talented. I think all girls (well, most girls, ok…me) have at one stage or another wanted to do their own high tea, but there is a huge difference between actually wanting to do one, and doing it…and then a bigger difference again in pulling one off soooo beautifully!! I am doing a charity fundraising high tea when I’m home from Europe so if you’re keen I would love to enlist your help xx

  4. How beautiful! I love your tea set. I’ve been buying individual cups and saucers in different countries and places and growing my collection that way. I’m with you, about not wanting it too matchy matchy. I love high tea as well, but usually go out to a fancy hotel for it. And champagne – an absolute must! xoxox
