Jamie Oliver…. I am sure that name needs no introduction to you!!
A chef that we have all watched grow and become beyond brilliant. I have serveral of Jamie’s cookbooks and love to watch his cooking shows, 30 minute meals-what a lifesaver for all us busy people out there! I just adore the way he cooks with ease and is so relaxed about it, whipping up homely and wholesome dishes with fresh and delicious ingredients.
When I heard he was opening one of his famous Jamie’s Italian restaurants here in Perth I was super excited!! In recent years we have seen lots of fantastic new bars and restaurants popping up around the place which is fantastic, and now we have a world winning restaurant by the incredible Jamie to enjoy all the time.
As the restaurant has only opened recently the wait list for a booking is pretty long but they welcome walk in’s so we just went and lined up. The wait was a few hours but the staff are lovely and very upfront about it. As you wait in line they offer around tasting plates so you get a sneak preview of the delicious food that’s to come when you get inside. Torture isn’t it?! You can then put your name down, go off and have some drinks nearby and they will call you when your table becomes available.
Once we were seated let me just say the service was so efficient and friendly and the staff were very knowledgable. The layout of the restaurant is very large with a bar and some relaxed lounges and chairs at one end-perfect for enjoying some bar snacks and a cocktail while you wait for your table.
EVERYTHING on the menu looked so good I had a lot of trouble deciding what to order (this just means I will have to go back plenty more times to try it all). I ended up skipping entree and just going with a main course because I wanted to save room for the dessert. For main I chose the Blue Swimmer Crab Risotto which was ahhhh mazzzinnngg! I am so pleased I went with this one, it was creamy and cooked to perfection with the powerful taste of the crab shinning through. Highly recommend this dish!!
Now for dessert…the best part of a meal…After much agony I decided to go with the Chocolate & Vin Santo Pot served with biscotti and zabaglione ice cream. WOW just WOW!! SO rich and decadent but beyond amazing. With several layers and textures, it was a pot of heaven on earth and perfect for all you chocolate addicts out there!
Paying a visit to this new gem should be an absolute must on your to do list, you won’t regret it! The prices are very reasonable, servings generous, atmosphere great and service is fast and friendly, an all around great experience!!
Happy Dining! 🙂
